The source of the natural peanut flavour is not from peanuts. Our facility is peanut-free to help our consumers that struggle with allergies.
Flavour ingredient suppliers have the ability to use many different ingredients to arrive at making a finished flavour. While vanilla or chocolate or strawberry flavours are easier flavours to make directly from their direct food sources, a peanut-free peanut flavour is a combination of extracts.
For example, other extracts such as beans can be used to simulate part of the peanut flavour. Other ingredients are then added (eg: salt) to help bring out the flavour.
In the end, to ensure no allergy concerns, there is no detectable protein content in the flavour ingredient itself. Food allergies are triggered by the protein portion of the food - with no protein left intact the allergy risk from the peanut is eliminated.
